BAMBOO MAT CORRUGATED SHEET(BMCS)

THE PROCESS

From the green forest the bamboo transforms into netted matting called bamboo mats through the magic hands of the weavers. The mats are given prophylactic treatment with boric acid and borax mixture which makes the sheets termite resistance and borer free and then dipped in phenol formaldehyde resin enabling the sheets to be 100 % BWR, water resistant which is admixed with preservative chemicals such as sodium penta chloraphenate which makes the sheets fungus proof. The selected golden yellow mats are glued and pressed together under high pressure and temperature, resulting into BMCS. The sheets are finished with suitable coatings such as green brush bond sealant coating on one side and edge sealing is also given before dispatch providing the sheets with extra protection against water.

Internal Bond Strength (Dry/Wet): 1.3-1.4N/mm2

Permeability:  No percolation of water observed after storing water for over 24 hours

Load bearing Capacity: 5.4 N/mm of width (span length 1000mm)
Fire resistance: conforms to flammability test as per IS: 5509 for fire retardant plywood
Thermal Conductivity: BMCS has low thermal conductivity compared to other roofing materials

BAMBOO MAT BOARD (BMB) & bamboo Mat veneer composites (BMVC)

BAMBOO MAT BOARD

Comparision of strength and properties: 3mm of BMB  phenol bonded is as strong as 5mm of plywood- phenol bonded, 4mm of BMB is as strong as 6mm of plywood, 6mm of BMB is as strong as 12 mm of plywood & 12 mm of BMB is as strong as 25 mm of Plywood.

TECHNICAL DETAILS: BMB- CONFORMS TO IS: 13958-1994       BAMBOO PARTICLE BOARD (BPB) -PLAIN & FACE VENEERED-(EXTERIOR & INTERIOR GRADE) THE PROCESS From the green forest the bamboo transforms into chips through a chipping plant, leaving quality bamboo chips which is then dried down to required moisture content. Bamboo chips is further processed into fine particles from top & bottom surface & coarser particles for particle board core. A bonding mixture made up of phenol formaldehyde resin which makes the boards water resistant, high bonding strength, exterior quality, not easily ignitable & borax powder which makes the boards termite resistant, borer free & faraffin wax emulsion which improves the water resistance of the boards & sodium penta Chloraphenate which makes the boards fungus proof, is mixed under precise control with the bamboo chips. This mixture undergoes a forming & pressing line process, which produces a tough durable quality 3 – layer particle board. The boards are trimmed to the final size & sanded to produce smooth and even exterior surfaces and the boards can also be face veneered on both sides.
