TRANSFORMING THE DREAM INTO REALITY
The vision of the North East Regional Bamboo Mission under the aegis of NEC is a double digit economic growth of NER and annual turnover of Rs. 10,000 crores by sustained development of Bamboo in the next 15 years and its utilization as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).Creative, efficient and effective use of bambooresources in the North Eastern Region will generate millions of jobs. Consumption of bamboo in productive and entrepreneurial ventures can boost the GDP of North East Region. The mission envisages the enhancement of family and community through value addition of bamboo with at least one member of each family getting employment throughout the year in the Bamboo sector. With the view to ensure acceptability of the bamboo products development and dissemination of sophisticated technology to diversify the products with improved quality and looks. For maintaining the stability of the bamboo value chain, bacward integration with supply of bamboo gains currency. Thrust is on growing bamboo of selected species on a large scale in a sustained manner consistent woth economic and ecological considerations. A strong R&D mechanism’s existence and functional global export network of value added bamboo products is acknowledged as a prime necessity.
